Founders

John Adams, signer of the Declaration of Independence and second President of the United States of America, upon election to the Continental Congress, worried that he was  “unfit for the times”.

History has proven his concerns were without merit.

The occupations of our Founding Fathers included farmers, merchants, lawyers, ministers, and two scientists.  A number of these men were self-educated with no formal training.

Their meetings in Philadelphia included  sweltering days in which they yelled, prayed, cajoled and manipulated until they produced the document that declared our independence from England.

We stand on their shoulders every time a protest placard is waved; whenever we make our voices heard at a town hall meeting.  The documents produced in our Continental Congress and those that followed, paved the way for us to own property, vote, assemble, and have a speedy trial.

As citizens intent on protecting our country from enemies within and without, we dare not forge ahead unless familiar with the men and the documents that are the foundation of this land.

Liberty Forged will continue to furnish web sites to that end.  The information below provides you the ability to read our founding documents and learn about the men whose inspiration allows us to realize that neither are we  “unfit for the time”.
